Winning Your Case vs. Being Compensated

If winning a personal injury lawsuit is a first step, then getting paid for that victory is the last.

When a case is successful and compensation is awarded by a court, there are still a number of reasons you may not get paid. In these cases, and perhaps even sooner, it may be necessary to have an attorney obtain a lien against the defendant’s property or real estate to protect your interests or recovery. This is only one example of the options to consider in securing your victory in court.

In some instances the first person to get in line gets paid while those in the back don’t.

For this reason (and others) it’s important to know how to take collection actions to protect and move your claim ahead of others.

In some case you may even be forced to fight for your compensation rights in a separate lawsuit or before a bankruptcy court.

Some very large court judgments have never been paid to the winning plaintiffs. Don’t let this happen to you, instead take steps to help avoid this.
